Powerlifters and weightlifters use very different bars, and you should choose between the two based on the type of lifting you do. Powerlifters need extra strength and stiffness in a bar, and many also prefer extra-sharp knurling, as well as for-real knurling in the center of the bar.

When you get right down to it, the barbell is the single most important tool for lifting weights, but you’d never guess it. Powerlifters and weightlifters use very different bars, and you should choose between the two based on the type of lifting you do.

Be sure to have a good barbell rack so that you will have a place to put your stuff. Barbell racks can come in very handy and can actually save you some extra space in your home for some more attractive items!
